Today I think I actually got 8 hours of sleep! It’s been a really long time since I’ve gotten 8 hours a sleep on a school night. I was energized most of the day, starting to get a bit tired now. Which is good because I should fall asleep pretty early. I’m not really feeling much different. I’ve noticed that I’m hungrier than I usually am. Before I started doing Whole30 I would skip meals and be totally fine but today I actually left for work and accidentally my breakfast at home. As soon as I realized it I turned right back around and went to get it. I’m three days in now, didn’t have a headache at all today, fingers crossed for tomorrow! I spent a lot of time in the kitchen today which I always like. If you aren’t having fun in the kitchen, are you really cooking?
Dinner pictured above is coconut curry chicken with cauliflower rice and egg drop soup! All of the recipes I’ve been following can be found on: ourpaleolife.com
The sugar withdrawal is real. I woke up SO tired today. It was weird because the past two days I’ve slept more than I normally ever do. I also woke up with a headache. I still have that headache as I write this post at 9pm. I have had a headache all freaking day. After what felt like the worlds longest day it was nice to come home and have really good dinner. We ate 50/50 burgers with some sweet potatoes. Now I did miss the ketchup and cheese but I didn’t feel like I needed it to enjoy my food and I think that’s pretty cool. Here’s hoping this headache goes away and I wake up fresh.
I started today off on the right foot. Woke up early, blasted some music while I was making breakfast and getting ready for work. I was happy with my lunch and dinner. It was just a good day overall. I will say I was hungry a lot today. I think it’s because I ate breakfast, I never eat breakfast. I definitely need to go to the store and get some almonds. I did my measurements today. I like to weigh myself and check that once a week but something else I like to do is measure my inches. I measure a few key areas; neck, arms, chest, waist, hips, thighs, and calves. Sometimes even though you don’t see a change in your weight your body is still changing. I like to measure my inches because it helps for me to see something going down. I’ll be giving you guys weekly updates on my pounds and inches lost on Monday’s. I’m feeling very hopeful for tomorrow. Day 1 of Whole30 was a good day.
Today I say goodbye. Goodbye to the unhealthy choices. Goodbye to being out of breath. Goodbye to the laziness. I say goodbye to all of the negative words from others always ringing in my head, and to the negative thoughts I’ve created that bounce around with them. I say goodbye to giving up. Today is not the end. It is a new beginning. I will not give up. It will be hard, I know that. I’ll want to give up. I know there will be times that I will be right on the edge. I’ve had those times before and I’ve always given up. I gave up because I didn’t believe in myself enough, I gave up because I thought I couldn’t do it. I doubted my capabilities, but no more. I know that I am capable of greatness. I know that I can accomplish anything. Today I say goodbye, to all doubt.
Starting on Monday, the Jess’s and I are beginning the Whole 30 meal plan. Whole 30, from what I understand, basically cuts all processed foods from your diet. Things I can’t eat/drink: dairy, grains, alcohol, beans, added sugars, and processed foods. Things I can eat: fruits, veggies, eggs, nuts, seeds, oils, and unprocessed meats. After 30 days of not eating those things, I’m allowed to slowly introduce them back into my diet. A big point of this program is to find out how the foods I eat affect my body. I’ve been feeling really tired and I feel like I’ve been sick the whole year. My nose is always stuffy. I’m so tired of dealing with a stuffy nose. I’m hoping this will do a sort of waterfall effect and a lot of other aspects of my life and health will fall into place. When you’re doing this program you aren’t supposed to weigh yourself, I’m not following that rule. I’ll be doing a weekly weigh-in and also measuring my inches every week on different body parts. I spent most of the day today doing groceries and cleaning because I really want to get this week started on the right foot. Tomorrow is all about prep and weighing myself. I’m not sure if I’ll start working out this week or next week, I might start next week because I want to give myself some time to get into the routine. Here’s to trying new things.
Today I got punched, balls thrown in my face, and my classroom trashed. After a long day I decided to go out to get tacos and watch a movie with my friends. If you haven’t seen Bohemian Rhapsody I definitely recommend it. True artistry from the cast and the crew. I’ve decided to take a bigger step towards my health. I’m hoping that it works. My post tomorrow will be all about that next step.
A few months ago I stumbled across this list. It was titled “Things you should do every month” when I read through it, I loved so many of the things on it. I screenshot it and said I’m going to start doing this next month. Months later, I never did. I went to find the list today because I wanted to print it and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. So I decided to make my own. My list isn’t nearly as extensive as that list but I decided to keep it short. I don’t want to set myself up for failure. It’s so easy to get caught up in life and the day to day that you forget to do things like get coffee with a friend, or you don’t feel like you can take time to do the things you love. I also want to give back more. I’m hoping eventually I can volunteer more than once a month but for now, I want to set myself up to succeed. I really want to take time to appreciate the things around me more. —- Today as Jess and I were coming home we passed this horrible car accident. It seems like a car collided with a motorcycle. We saw the man that was on the motorcycle on the ground and getting lifted onto a gurney and into the back of an ambulance. I really hope he’s okay, it seems like he was moving but I read online that he might’ve passed away. My thoughts are with him and his family. While we were turning around (they had closed off the road) I noticed a little girl crying and her mom comforting her, my guess is that they were in the car that hit the man. (The accident had just happened so I don’t think his family was around) My heart broke for that girl, for what she may have seen, for what she may have felt, for the man on the motorcycle. All of this was happening right next to our neighborhood. A block away. We kept hearing ambulance and police sirens for the next hour or so. I had this moment when I was in the backyard letting the boys out once we got home. While I was standing there, healthy, ten feet away someone was hurt. There was something tragic happening. Then I started to think about all of the other people that lived in the neighborhood around me, the people driving by in their cars. How there are so many people within feet of you, all with different lives, different points of view, in different moods. The world seems so big at times but it can also be small.
